A consistent increase in pupil attendance across the county

Every day at school counts in fostering strong learning habits, supporting well-being and preparing children and young people for future opportunities.

Ceredigion County Council is proud to note a consistent increase in pupil attendance each year following the adverse impact of COVID-19 on national figures.

In 2024-2025, the percentage of attendance among primary age pupils was 93.3%, which is the second highest in Wales; and the percentage among secondary aged pupils was 90%, which is the fifth highest in Wales.

Councillor Wyn Thomas, Cabinet Member for Schools, Lifelong Learning and Skills, said: "I would like to say a big thank you to all the pupils, parents, carers and staff of the schools and the Local Authority for the ongoing efforts to ensure that attendance in our schools remains consistent. This commitment helps us to maintain a steady level of attendance across our schools. We recognise that ensuring children attend school every day requires dedication, encouragement and a strong partnership between families, school staff and Local Authority officer.

Every day at school is important, and by working together we can build on this progress to ensure that every child benefits fully from their education. By helping your child attend regularly and on time, you give them the best chance of success academically, socially and emotionally."
